Autodesk have announced that they are about to release AutoCAD WS. This is a cut down version of AutoCAD that will allow viewing and editing of AutoCAD drawings on you iOS device, such as your iPhone or iPad.

AutoCAD WS will use the same 'cloud' technology behind the AutoCAD Butterfly technology preview, allowing both online and offline editing. The AutoCAD WS mobile app will enable you to view and work with DWG files directly on your iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

Using an intuitive touch and gesture interface, you will be able to accurately select, annotate, and interact with AutoCAD drawings.  This will be a big step closer to viewing and editing your revit created drawings while on site.

Best of all AutoCAD WS will be a free application, and available from the app-store soon!  Check out the official Autodesk page here.

Autodesk have also officially started releasing information on the highly speculated AutoCAD for Mac (previously known as sledgehammer). This is a native MAC version that will take advantage of the Mac hardware, such as multi-touch and gesture based interface and as Shaan Hurley says on his Between the lines Blog, "This is a Mac experience and AutoCAD 2011 combined, not some Windows application just ported without consideration of the workflow, environment, and Mac user expectations."

I hope Autodesk give Revit the same treatment, it would be so cool to be able to rotate and move around your model using multi-touch!  If you cant wait for a native version of Revit on a Mac then you could always make the following mod to your current laptop.. We are sure this mod will catch on at AU2010!
